London Buses route 288 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Queensbury and Edgware, it is operated by Arriva The Shires. ==History== Route 288 commenced operating on 17 June 1972, as a circular route, running from Edgware bus station to Broadfields Estate with AEC Merlins. It was converted to double deck operation on 7 November 1980 with MCW Metrobuses. On 10 November 1990, it was converted to minibus operation. From 3 July 1993, route 288 was extended via the withdrawn section of route 107 from Edgware to Queensbury station and again on 31 August 1996 to Safeways. Upon being re-tendered, the route passed from Metroline to Arriva The Shires on 2 September 2006 with Wright Cadet bodied VDL SB120s introduced.〔(Bus tender results Route 288 ) Transport for London 13 January 2006〕 When next tendered, Arriva The Shires successfully retained the route, with a new contract commencing on 31 August 2013.〔(Bus tender results Route 288 ) Transport for London 20 December 2012〕〔(Tender News ) ''BusTalk'' (Go-Ahead London) issue 20 February 2013〕
